Meinas Elmusharaf is a public speaker, mentor, social rights activist and medical doctor. She is a graduate from McMaster University with an Honours degree in Psychology, Behaviour and Neuroscience. She was the recipient of the National Science & Engineering Council of Canada Scholarship and spent her final year of undergraduate studies as a research assistant in the Animal behaviour lab at the Wildlife Research Centre in Algonquin Park. She has also worked in the multisensory mind and neurobiology lab with world renowned McMaster researchers.
Following graduation, Meinas attended medical school at Ahfad University for Women in Sudan. She graduated among the top four in her class and earned her MBBS in 2015 with the prestigious Prize in Medicine. She is currently working to become a licensed medical doctor. During her final year at medical school. Meinas was contracted as an independent consultant for Childrens Development Fund in which she held youth leadership workshops with a team of humanitarian experts in remote areas of Sudan including Kassala.
She is the founder of Medical Relief Project, a program dedicated to helping Sudanese patients fund medical treatment with events in the UK, Sudan and Canada. She has also worked closely with the Canadian Embassys political secretary and Ambassador along with Ahfad University promoting Childrens rights. She is dedicated to empowering youth and currently works with Catholic Social Services, assisting high risk and disabled youth integrate successfully in society. Meinas hopes to pursue a medical career in internal medicine alongside her ongoing clinical research and various outreach projects.
