Zakariya is a Community Rehabilitation and Disability Studies Student at the Cumming School of Medicine. As a second generation Muslim Canadian, he has recognized the need to address systemic issues regarding Muslim identity within Canada. Prior to joining TFA, Zakariya had extensive background working with marginalized populations, in particular developing therapeutic programming for those with chronic disease, disability, and elderly populations. Zakariya is passionate in facilitating community inclusion, health equity, and increasing health outcomes of marginalized communities. Through TFA, Zakariya hopes to bring light to devalued groups within Canada, and to work collaboratively to assist interpersonal identification between all Canadians through research, community engagement, and educational seminars.
